Statement
by Public Advocate Gotbaum on Veto of Cell Phone Bill
Public Advocate Gotbaum released the following statement regarding Mayor Bloomberg's veto of the City Council cell phone bill:
"In a city where thousands of students commute by bus and subway, it is irresponsible of the administration to ban the use of cell phones in schools. Students need to be able to reach their parents and parents need to know their children are safe. Mayor Bloomberg and DOE should have listened to parents. They should be working with lawmakers rather than obstructing attempts to come up with a sensible strategy that will keep our kids safe."
