Public Advocate Gotbaum Praises GPS on School Buses
Public Advocate Betsy Gotbaum said, "I strongly support the Department of Education's (DOE) decision to test global positioning systems (GPS) on city school buses. Hundreds of parents have called my office with serious concerns about buses running late, improper stops, and round-about routes. In some cases, children are spending hour upon hour traveling to and from school. That’s not right. These new GPS systems will give officials the tools they need to increase accountability and, hopefully, get kids to school in a more timely manner."
