Assistance for Seniors

Department for the Aging
There is a Central Information and Referral Line at the Department for the Aging that deals with issues of special concern to seniors -- such as the senior center nearest to your home and information about Alzheimer's, social services and intergenerational programs, and the senior citizens rent increase exemption (SCRIE).

Department for the Aging Alternate Housing
If you or a loved one can't live alone anymore, get information on alternate housing arrangements -- such as enriched housing, shared housing, supportive housing and adult homes in all five boroughs -- from the Department for the Aging.
