The Department of Homeless Services operates emergency shelters
for homeless New Yorkers and assists in the search for permanent
housing. Call the main office for information on shelters and
referral services during regular business hours. After business
hours, call or go to the Emergency Assistance Unit.

The HRA Infoline can give information about emergency services
for the homeless. A tape will advise people to go to their local
income support center if they call during business hours, and
the locations of income support centers are listed. When people
call after business hours, people are directed to the Emergency
Assistance Unit.
