Municipal Archives
The Municipal Archives hold New York City's collection of old records, photographs, and papers. Among the historical treasures are City Council minutes going back to 1647, genealogy records -- including births recorded before 1909, deaths recorded before 1949, and marriages recorded before 1937. The office is open to the public. Copies of original documents and microfilm cost a small fee.
