Parking Permits for the Disbaled

The Department of Transportation issues two types of permits.

Department of Transportation Special Vehicle Identification Permits (SVIPs)
People with disabilities can apply for Special Vehicle Identification Permits (SVIPs). The Department of Transportation issues two types of SVIPs: A state permit allows you to park at designated handicapped parking spaces throughout the state; a city permit, available only to New York City residents, allows you to park anywhere in the five boroughs, even where parking is normally restricted. You need to be examined by a public health physician to qualify. Call DOT for more information or to apply for the permits.

Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm
