Passports and Visas

New York Passport Agency
U.S. citizens who are planning an escape to an exotic land can call the New York Passport Agency for information on obtaining passports by mail. To be safe, allow at least four weeks for processing. You will need proof of U.S. citizenship, two identical 2" X 2" photos (color or black and white) taken within the last six months, proof of your identity, a completed application (available at post offices, court houses and the Passport Agency), and the appropriate fee. Some people must appear in person; others can apply by mail.

Call ahead to see whether you can avoid the trip or to make an appointment. Walk-in clients without appointments will not be accommodated. (Non-U.S. citizens must apply to the consulate of the country of which they are a citizen.)
